The Young Farmers Challenge is held on Sunday at the Bellingen Show.
Farmers are to complete all challenges in the safest manner and fastest time possible. Challenges are set on the day but may include tasks such as saddling a drum, potato throwing, fencing, shearing a sheep with a coloured chalk, hay stacking and shaving a balloon.
Teams are made up of four people aged 18 to 35 years. This is a fun event and great to watch. Teams must include both male and female participants.
Prize money is $400 to Champion Young Farmers’ Team plus participation prizes for all competitors.The Young Farmers Challenge will be held at 12pm Sunday May 21.
FUN RUN
For the fit and competitive, the Bellingen Challenge and Fun Run will get your heart racing. Pay to get in to the show and entry to the Fun Run is free.
Prizes include cash for male and females in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place . All entries are entered into the draw for a participants prize. Registration commences at 7.30am on Sunday May 21 at the Entertainment Tent.
PARTNER CARRYING COMPETITION
Scoop up your wife lovingly in your arms and be part of the Partner Carrying competition. Entry is $7.50 per person. This event starts at 2.30pm on Sunday May 21.
The prize for the first same sex team is two $50 vouchers to Bellingen Providore. First male female team receive one night's accommodation in Singleton, entry to Singleton Show's Australian Wife Carrying Titles held on September 23, and a cash contribution towards expenses.
STEER GUESSING COMPETITION
Guess Milo’s weight to the nearest kilogram and win a voucher worth $100 redeemable at Thorn’s Gourmet Meats and Smokehouse, Bellingen. Entry fee is $2 per guess.
MONGREL DOG SHOW
The mongrel dog show is to make us laugh and appreciate the diversity in the mongrel dog world.
Entry is $2 per group and there are three categories. The red group is for all dogs. Your dog may look funny, happy, crazy, have long or short legs.
Dogs will be awarded for their unique qualities. The blue group: tricks and obedience and yellow group: for dress ups. Let your imagination run wild, everyone and their dog will get a prize, for entertaining the crowd with funny, silly, amazing, inventive and original costumes with dress ups on dogs and humans.
There will be a Grand Parade for all dogs to parade around the ring to find "The Most Mongrel Looking Dog of the Day" and "The Best Groomed Dog of the Day."
