Touring local small businesses with Federal Small Business Minister Michael McCormack today (April 19), Mr Hartsuyker said the recently-passed tax cut plan will help local small businesses to expand and hire more people.

“I ran a small business before I was elected to Parliament, so I understand how cuts in the tax rate and simpler paperwork will help local small businesses expand, pursue new ideas and hire more people,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“By backing small business with tax cuts and simpler paperwork, small businesspeople have more time and ability to pursue their dreams.

“It’s that entrepreneurial spirit which creates jobs and means communities along the Mid North Coast have a vibrant small business sector to provide more jobs, as well as goods and services.

“And the best way to unlock that entrepreneurial spirit is backing small business.”

Mr Hartsuyker and Mr McCormack held roundtables with local small business people in the region, before visiting Coastal Hire, a locally-based equipment hire firm.

Mr McCormack said the best way locals can keep small business strong is by shopping local.

“I live in a regional community, and just like Luke Hartsuyker I ran a small business from the regions before I was elected. That’s how I know the value of shopping local,” Mr McCormack said.

“No matter your need, you can buy it locally.

“Every dollar locals spend in a regional small business is an injection of confidence in our community. Every dollar spent locally helps keep local businesses open and create jobs.

“The Government backs small business with the lowest tax rate in half a century, simpler paperwork and more small businesses able to access the instant asset write-off programme.

“And by partnering with regional communities shopping locally, we can see small business thrive.”

Mr McCormack’s small business roadshow has met with small businesses along the Mid North Coast and North Coast this week, before heading to the Central West and Western Sydney over the next two days.
