The highway was closed in both directions due to the crash near Rutland St.
Diversions have been lifted but traffic remains very heavy in the area.
Motorists should continue to allow plenty of extra travel time.
During the time that the highway was shut, motorists travelling south on the Pacific Highway were diverted just north of Nambucca Heads to use Old Coast Rd to travel south.
Motorists travelling north were being diverted at Ferry Street, on the northern side of the Nambucca River at Macksville.
These diversions were not suitable for B-Doubles.
