More fungus fun:
Johnny Kassel has lived in Collombatti for about 12 years and has an avid interest in nature, especially the flora and fauna native to the Macleay region.
“Having so many birds, reptiles, insects and mammals around makes me happy. The trees, shrubs and grasses bring to me an inner peace.”
In recent weeks he’s been noticing a proliferation of fungi and has been busy documenting them.
“I have about 70 photos of fungi all taken in the last fortnight on my property. I am fascinated by the prolific fungal life that emerges after big rain events. The diversity is just amazing.”

He says that his relatively new-found fascination with fungi has been piqued due to the accessibility of digital photography.
“The ever changing light and shadows subtly add dynamic texture, colour and depth to what I once simply just dismissed as a mushroom.”
