With the theme of ‘Let’s Do More Together’, the 2017 NSW Seniors Festival will take place from 3 to 12 March and a range of activities and events are planned across the Bellingen Shire.

Now in its 59th year, the Festival is the largest in the southern hemisphere, reaching up to 500,000 seniors each year giving people the opportunity to make new friends or get together with old ones at local events.
Bellingen Shire Mayor, Dominic King said, “it is important that as a community we acknowledge and celebrate the contribution made by our older people. Sharing their wisdom and learning from their experiences can help shape a better community for everybody and I encourage participation in the events taking place across our Shire.”
The events include:
Monday 6 March: Couples Lunch at the Dorrigo Support Centre
Dorrigo Support Centre acknowledges the history of all service users and is encouraging participants to bring photos representing a significant time in their life or a newspaper clipping or letter which has historical importance to them.
There will be a guest speaker and an activity where you will be asked to write a letter to your 16 year old self. The cost of lunch is a gold coin donation and bookings are to be made through the Dorrigo Support Centre on 6657 2896.
Thursday 9 March – Luncheon and activities at North Beach Bowling Club
The day will begin at 10am with a morning tea and will include entertainment, guest speakers, activities and information on groups and services available for seniors of the Bellingen Shire. Lunch will be provided by Chans Chinese Restaurant.
Bookings are essential as places are limited. Contact Anna Joy, Council’s Community Wellbeing Planning Officer on 6655 7300. This event has been made possible with the support of Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre, Urunga Neighbourhood Centre, Community Care Options, NSW Home Support Services and Royal Freemasons Benevolent Institution and as such will be at no cost to seniors.
Saturday 10 March – Information, entertainment and morning tea at Raleigh Urunga Masonic Village
The event will start at 9.30am and is open to anyone who would like to find out more about this facility situated at 191 Old Pacific Highway Raleigh. Contact 6692 4400 for details.

Transport
Transport can be provided to and from North Beach Bowling Club by Community Transport for a minimal cost. Contact Community Transport on 66552666 to arrange this service. Bookings are essential.
