Each MP will seek expressions of interest within their local community and applications will be assessed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, to ensure they meet the grant eligibility and assessment criteria.
Dorrigo RSL Sub Branch and Dorrigo Historical Society have met to discuss the potential for a suitable project to mark the event.
Included in the plans are the conduct of the Remembrance Day service at 11am on Sunday 11 November 2018 at the Dorrigo Monument, followed by a community celebration in the form of a street party in the northern end of Hickory Street.
Other suggestions include display cases for the museum, a metal sculpture or mural, street banners and publication of WW1 personal biographies.
We are seeking other suggestions from the Dorrigo community for the project. These suggestions must be in writing and be submitted to the RSL Sub Branch by 8 November 2017, so that they can be assessed for the project before our Dorrigo Grant Expression of Interest is submitted to the Cowper Electorate Community Committee.
To find out more about the guidelines, please contact Bob Denner on 0429 406 535 or rdenner@bigpond.net.au. Written suggestion may be emailed or posted to 35 Kurrajong St Dorrigo or left at the Dorrigo Memorial RSL Club by November 8.
