Repton Rural Fire Brigade Captain Lisa Duerinckx warns that the rain, while providing much needed relief, can also be a double-edged sword.
“Recent rainfall has certainly provided relief from the hot winds and prolonged dry period we have been experiencing, but it may lead to a false sense of security in our communities as the potential for bush fires remains very high,” said Lisa Duerinckx.
To assist with preparing for the fire season, Repton RFB is hosting an information session at the North Beach Recreation and Bowling Club on Saturday 21st October 3pm - 4.30pm.
Speakers will be present from both the RFS and National Parks and Wildlife Service, and Repton RFB will have fire appliances at the venue for hands on demonstrations.
“It’s a small investment in our community’s safety, and I encourage all Repton and Mylestom residents to attend.”
