The Camellia Carnival held on the Queen's Birthday weekend and the Gala Day held last Tuesday were, unfortunately for bowls, washed out even though we realise the rain was desperately needed.
In spite of the greens being closed the attendance of representatives from all the clubs in the Mid North Coast District was very much appreciated and the Gala Day turned out to be a very happy and sociable occasion.
The trading table, the 2 cent auction and the various raffles did a roaring trade.
Special thanks to Noela McCabe and her helpers for all their work providing morning tea and looking after everyone at lunch, to everyone who contributed to the day and although not a bowl was rolled Gala Day was voted a great success.
On October 5 Elaine Cameron and Lynne Tarrant continued on their winning way in the minor pairs to defeat Isabel Pettit and Sally Welsh.
The match of the day, however, was between Bev Cloake, Gloria Christian and Jan Grogan, Jo Bathgate.
With the score at 15 all after the last end an extra end was required which resulted in a win for Bev and Gloria when Bev's final bowl secured the match for her and Gloria 16/15. Congratulations everyone on top class bowls.
Pennant players are asked to note that training will be on Tuesdays starting October 17 and continuing through until early December.
All pennant players are expected to attend so please check the board. It is still not too late to put your name down as a player or reserve.
The draw for the Consistency competition is on the notice board so please check for matches.
Rink winners Elaine Cameron, Lynne Tarrant. Happy birthday to Sally Welsh.
