Volunteer drivers with Community Transport have been helping folks in Bellingen Shire get around for 30 years, but the organisation has now taken outreach to a whole new level by putting its office on wheels.

In an industry-first, Coffs Harbour, Bellingen and Nambucca Community Transport has secured itself a purpose-built mobile office that will let them have personal contact with people in more geographically-isolated areas, including around Dorrigo, Kalang and Thora.
“It’s going to be good for smaller communities that have never had any one-on-one contact with us,” Communications and Administration officer Kylie Cork said.
“That’s the whole purpose of it. We don’t have a bricks and mortar office in really small locations so this is a good way for us to get out there so people can learn about our services.”
The office includes power outlets for laptops. which enables quick sign-ups, and a fridge and toilet.
One of its inaugural outings was a trip to Dorrigo on September 13 to join in a meeting of the Aged Care Network.
Service coordinator Rhonda Warwick said she plans to bring the office to Bellingen on Tuesday October 3 and park it outside the Senior Citizens Centre in Maam Gaduying Park.

The Coffs, Bello and Nambucca organisation is staffed by 85 volunteer drivers and provides transport to 1500 clients who are aged, frail, disabled or geographically or socially-isolated.
It also employs Indigenous drivers to provide ‘culturally appropriate transport’ to Aboriginal communities and does social outings for the elderly.
