Council is currently seeking external funds to refresh and refurbish the café precinct in Church Street and wants to hear from you!
Great streets move beyond roads and footpaths to become experiences. As the Main Street Beautification Project progresses further, Council wants to ensure that Church Street café precinct becomes an area that promotes people’s happiness, health and wellbeing. Council is therefore asking the community to share ideas that go beyond the pavement.
Two proposals have been uploaded onto the Create website including plans and concept designs outlining a potential look and feel for the Church Street café precinct. One of the proposals includes a playground and Council would like to understand if this is something that meets the needs and aspirations of the community.
Council recognises that the Church Street café precinct is a very popular area and is therefore seeking feedback that will contribute towards the decision making process.
“One of the objectives of the town beautification project is to improve amenity and provide fun accessible meeting places,” Mayor Dominic King said.
“The Church Street café precinct is a very important public space because it supports business, community, visitors and tourists. Feedback from the community is extremely useful because it enables Council to make decisions based on what the user values.”
Any community member that would like to provide feedback on the Church Street café precinct proposals should visit the Create website at http://create.bellingen.nsw.gov.au/create-bellingen-town-centre-beautification and complete the online survey. The survey will remain open until Tuesday October 31.
Ongoing updates about the Bellingen Town Centre Beautification Project can also be found on the Create website.
