Display of NAIDOC weavings by Bellingen Public school students

Walking through the doors of the Bellingen Shire Library, you will be greeted by an array of colour and texture. Three hundred and sixty-five artists contributed to the creation of the four weavings on display. These artists are the students of Bellingen Public School.

Bellingen Public School students celebrated NAIDOC week 2017 by creating these weavings that reflect the theme of Our Language Matters. Every student in the school, from kindergarten to year 6, contributed to the creation of the weavings. These weavings represent the Gumbaynggir peoples’ connection with water, land, sun, animals and language.

The weavings will be on display until the end of the school holidays.
