Seventeen athletes from Bellingen High qualified for the NSW CHS Athletics at Homebush, September 6-8. Of those, sixteen ventured to Sydney to take on the best in the state. There is certainly a bright future for the many BHS athletes.
Outstanding results where athletes competed against the best in the state were:
Sophie Boyd 9th 13 years girls 800m; Emmaline Bowes 13th 13 years girls 80m hurdles; Sophie Keough 16th 15 years girls 200m and 13th 15 years girls 400m; Willow Neal 6th 15 years girls 400m, 8th 15 years girls 800m, and 9th 15 years girls triple jump; Katie Thorn 5th 17 years+ girls 400m, 9th 17 years+ girls 100m hurdles, 6th 17 years+ girls long jump, 8th 17 years+ girls triple jump, 16th 17 years+ girls shot put, 2nd 17 years+ girls Pentathlon, 3rd 4x400m relay team for NC; Kyan Upsall 3rd 12 years boys 800m; Hunter Cruickshank 6th 13 years boys 200m; Lee Tuhi 11th 17 years +boys shot put.
As well as the fabulous individual results, all three relay teams did extremely well:
