This project will receive funding through the 2016-17 rounds of the Federal Government’s Community Heritage and Icons Grants program.
Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker met with the successful applicants Josh and Sara Walker of Coffs Coast Scenic Tours to discuss how the visitor numbers to the Dorrigo world heritage area will benefit.
“Dorrigo National Park is certainly one of the region’s gems,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“It’s such a stunning destination, and far more visitors would pass through the region if they knew just how incredible it was.
“Promoting the natural environment and beautiful scenery of the Dorrigo National Park will bring more visitors to the region which has a positive economic and social impact.
“Without awareness of these Heritage List destinations, it’s possible for these places to ignored and neglected, and Dorrigo National Park is a landmark of the region which we need to maintain.
“I’m pleased to see this valuable project receive support and want to congratulate all those involved on their successful application.”
The National Heritage List now comprises 110 places of outstanding natural, historic and Indigenous significance to Australia.
The Community Heritage and Icons Grants program funds a range of interpretation, communication and promotion activities that promote community participation and awareness of places listed on Australia’s National Heritage List.
