The 31 apprenticeships are open to people of all ages and backgrounds – men, women, school leavers, Indigenous and mature age applicants – in locations across Essential Energy’s footprint.
Regional Manager North Coast, Brendon Neyland, said Essential Energy was seeking to recruit 20 powerline workers and 11 electrical technicians in towns including Dungog, Port Macquarie, Dorrigo, Kyogle and Lismore.
Areas along the North Coast where opportunities exist include: Dorrigo – 1 Powerline Worker; Dungog – 1 Distribution Electrical Technician; Kyogle – 1 Powerline Worker; Port Macquarie – 1 Zone Substation Technician; Lismore – 1 Distribution Electrician Technician and 1 Zone Substation Technician.
“As an equal opportunity employer, we want our workforce to reflect the local communities we serve and encourage applicants from a diversity of backgrounds and experience,” Brendon said.
“The skills our new recruits will develop as they learn their nationally-recognised trade will enable us to deliver a first-class electricity distribution network that continues to evolve to meet changing customer needs into the future.”
About one-third of the 31 new apprenticeships on offer have been identified as opportunities for women and Indigenous people.
The successful applicants will begin their apprenticeships in February 2018, participating in a three-week induction program at one of Essential Energy’s dedicated training centres.
The four-year apprenticeship program offers an exciting opportunity to learn a valuable trade in regional NSW and includes practical and theoretical instruction, complemented by training in the field.
Applications for the 31 apprenticeships close at noon on Friday, 8 September 2017. To apply, go to:
