“This accreditation allows for the display of the “i” symbol and is based on: hours of operation, WHS practices, and quality assurance practices. Urunga Visitor Information Centre is currently a Level 2 centre, compared to Waterfall Way VIC which is a Level 1 and Dorrigo VIC which is a Level 3.
“The proponents are willing to support the involvement of volunteers at the Centre if they wish to … this is an important recognition of the contribution the volunteers have made and can potentially continue to add to the visitor experience. The proposal outlines a number of activities to supplement the provision of VIC services, including the sale of light refreshments, souvenirs, the hire of bikes and the development of local tours.
“These new products and services will promote length of stay in the destination, increasing yield and dispersion across the Shire. Bellingen Shire Council will provide the tenants with a suite of information resources to ensure that the marketing and tourist information is consistent across the shire.”
