“How we educate the next generation is vitally important to the future health of regional communities like ours,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“Those of us who have grown up in regional areas know all too well what it’s like to be a student at a regional school, and now is the opportunity to have your say on what you think needs to change so we can give our kids a better education.
“Today marks an important milestone of the independent review with the release of a discussion paper and launch of an online platform for public submissions.”
The discussion paper, prepared by the reviewer Emeritus Professor John Halsey, identifies the key issues and challenges faced by rural students and poses areas of focus to stimulate ideas about possible solutions.
“The Federal Government is listening closely to regional communities in our efforts to improve the education and preparation of young people from the country to develop into their best selves.”
“Our recent $23.4 billion commitment to education in Australia over the next 10 years demonstrates that we’re dedicated to improving schools nationally and boosting educational outcomes, and this review will help define what the next step is for regional areas.”
Submissions will close at 5pm, AEST 29 August 2017. For more information visit: https://www.education.gov.au/independent-review-regional-rural-and-remote-education
