The Magpies travelled to Nambucca Heads on Sunday to take on the Roosters in three grades. All teams started their games in a very lack lustre fashion but probably finished the stronger in both Ladies League Tag and First Grade.

Missing strong defensive centre Louie Taylor in the early part of First Grade the slick Rooster backs cut the Magpies to pieces and were well ahead of the clock at 30-0.
Late in the half Corey Cross scored twice, one off a clever Shane Holten pass.
Luke Beaumont converted the second and the Magpies trailed 30-10 at the break.
The Tomcat predicted that at this score the Magpies were well in the game but when the Roosters scored early in the second half he said 34-10 was unattainable.
Similar to the previous week however, the Magpies clicked.
Blake Archibald scored twice wide out after backline movements, neither being converted. Late in the game Troy Robinson scored, Luke Beaumont converted and the Magpies lost 38-24.
Reserve Grade tried hard in a scrappy game, their only try scoring opportunities being called back for forward passes.
The final score being 24-0.
Ladies League Tag started off as though the Rooster ladies were the higher placed team on the ladder. The Magpies were just off their game and dropped a lot of ball to give their opposition many chances to score.
Solid defence did hold for long periods however the Magpies trailed 10-0 at half time.
The Roosters took the score to 16-0 early in the second half and then the Magpies finally got going. Sophie Keough sliced through the tiring defence to score wide out. Sarah Beaumont converted from the sideline to make the score 16-6. Sophie Keough was once again on hand as she pounced on a long range Sarah Beaumont kick.
Unfortunately the conversion attempt failed but the Magpies were back in the game at 16-10. Simone Osland then scored near the posts, Sarah converted and the scores were locked up at sixteen a piece at the final bell.
It has been floated around that I must be the bad luck charm however, the Maroons won so it can’t be true.
Next week the Magpies play Sawtell at Bellingen Park in the last home game of the season.
