Friday
Personal chef to the stars, Chef Kate McAloon will be at Kombu Wholefoods on Friday (June 16) from 9-11am to run a cooking class, talking about her time cooking for the stars, and promote her new cookbook.
Chef Kate has had the pleasure of cooking for many high profile clients including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg, Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, Courtney Cox, Patricia and David Arquette, Orlando Bloom, Meg Ryan, and Carla Gugino, to name a few.
Kate uses local, organic, and sustainable ingredients in her tasty and nutritious recipes. She loves finding the freshest produce at farmers’ markets. Kate includes superfoods, medicinal herbs and culinary oils in her dishes to create healthy food nourishing the body, mind, and spirit.
Kate’s new book, The Flavour of JOY! is more than a cookbook. She has included stories to inspire, amuse, and uplift, as well as delicious, healthy recipes, tips, a few of her more memorable kitchen mishap stories, and some of her client’s favourite dishes.
This book is a combination of Kate's journey with food and discovering her life's passion.

Plastic Free July
Kombu Wholefoods has offered a wide range of bulk foods since they first opened their doors in Bellingen in 2004. Since then the range has continued to increase as support for affordable, minimally packaged food has grown. Kombu is a keen supporter of Plastic Free July and this year are celebrating with an offer and a competition:
The offer: Sign up to Plastic Free July at www.plasticfreejuly.org, commit to going as plastic free as you can for a month, then celebrate with 10% off all bulk lines through July – just bring printed proof of signing up to Plastic Free July to the counter and ask for the discount.
The competition: There is a $50 bulk voucher to give away in July to the person who comes closest to guessing how many bulk lines Kombu Wholefoods carries store (clue – it is a lot!).
Simply put your guess onto the back of your receipt through July, add your name and contact details and then post it into the competition box at the counter.
