Mixed Media Art is a diverse group of creative individuals who have been exploring many art forms and different media for the past two and a half years at an open art studio at the Bellingen Sustainability Centre.
General Manager, Liz Jeremy, said “Council is pleased to support and promote our local artists wherever possible and our libraries are ideal venues to showcase the amazing talent amongst us.”
“The success of the ‘Short Cuts’, Pop Up Art Studio in Urunga demonstrates that our community has an appetite for this”, added Ms Jeremy.
Artists whose works are displayed include Atalanta Lloyd-Haynes, Sharron Arnold, Andrew Lo, Julie Hutchinson, Maureen Eley-Round and Fenella Briscomb, Jackie Lee and Lesley Hughes.
Artists books, printed/ inked paper and journaling have been popular with the Mixed media artists and the inspiring peer tutors have shared their skills to help create these original works. The Coptic book binding and gel-printing, Asian brush painting and mono-printing, journaling and collage on display are all praise worthy.
Bellingen Shire Branch Librarian, Surinder Kaur said library members should not be surprised if they encounter one of the artists working nearby preparing a new item for display.
Mixed Media Art offers a mixture of open studio and skill sharing workshops by peers from the Bellingen Community Arts Council. Interested community members can find the group on Facebook
