All workshops will be held in the Bower House community reuse centre located at the Raleigh Waste Management Centre at 46 Short Cut Rd, Raleigh. The workshops are amazingly good value at $60 full price and $30 concession.
Upcycling is the reuse of discarded objects or material in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original, giving participants the opportunity to be express their creativity and care for the environment at the same time.
Upcycled Sculpture with Paul Miller (communal project) Saturday, May 6 from 9.30am – 3.30pm
Participants will learn how to work with found materials to create a combined group sculpture. Participants will learn how to use materials and tools, come up with a group design and create a combined artwork which can be displayed at the Bowerhouse.
Upcycled Sculpture with Paul Miller (individual project) Saturday, May 20 from 9.30am – 3.30pm.
Participants will learn how to work with used materials to create a personal artwork or sculpture and Paul will show some examples of the work he has created and processes for making art and sculpture using recycled materials.
Upcycled Mosaics with Fiona Macaulay Saturday, May 27 from 9.30am – 3:00pm
Participants will learn both indoor and outdoor mosaic methods, complete a quality take home project and come away with the ability to create mosaic projects independently at home.
There will be displays of Upcycling mosaic examples and the opportunity to share ideas as well as gaining knowledge and experience on basic design theory and some technical considerations.
