ANZAC Day display at Bellingen Library

On behalf of the Bellinger Valley RSL Sub Branch and the Australian Light Horse Association, popular local identities Kevin and Moira Franklin are showcasing an ANZAC display inside Bellingen Library today (April 20).

The display features military items from WWI.

This year marks the Centenary of the Charge on Beersheba which took place on October 31, 1917 as part of the wider British offensive collectively known as the third Battle of Gaza.

The final phase of this all day battle was the famous mounted charge of the 4th Light Horse Brigade.

The display features items from this period and includes two life-size figures in full military uniform as well as light horse gear.

“Our community are fortunate to have such passionate and knowledgeable people who are willing to give up their time to ensure that our young people can learn about our history and understand the sacrifices of war”, council’s General Manager, Liz Jeremy said.
