Floyd heads overseas in May and will be back in Australia mid-July. He has solo shows booked in Europe and for the first time ever Japan.
“I m very excited about playing in Japan, I've made a connection over there with a guy named Pak Poe,” he said.
“He is a long established veteran of the Japanese music scene and is considered by many to be the Japanese Bob Dylan.
“I’m meeting up with him in Tokyo and may get to have a jam with his band as well.
“I’m finding the language very difficult to get my head around though.
“I hope I can find the gig!
“I’ll probably be a little more comfortable in Europe where I got used to being able to introduce the songs and do the show in a bit of the local language.
“It was always pretty rough but they love that you are having a go.”
For the run along the east coast Floyd's band The Temple Dogs are on board and ready to rock.
“I’ve been playing with bass player BIll Jacobi for over 20 years now and even the ‘new guy’ Dave Marsalis on drums has been with us for well over 10 years,” he said.
“You get that type of interaction where we can second guess what each other are about to do and it can make the improvisational side of the music very exciting.
“It’s been at least a decade since we have played in the lovely town of Bellingen.
“The Federal Hotel is a new one for us so we are very much looking forward to that.”
