This year we have three events being run with the support of Bellingen Shire Youth services, Bellingen Shire youth Hub, Bellingen Shire Council, and, Bello BE YOUNG, BE PROUD.
The film Embrace, a documentary about body image and self love will be a free event shown at the Memorial Hall in Bello on March 31, and in Dorrigo at the youth space on Wednesday, March 29.
In addition to this, there is a Bello to Port Macquarie Skate trip on the Tuesday, April 11 this is an all day event and registration is essential as we have limited numbers.
Embrace is an important social impact documentary told from the personal viewpoint of Taryn Brumfitt.
The doco seeks to find factors contributing to the issue of body image problem and seeks to find solutions.
Embrace director, Taryn Brumfitt comments that “this issue needed a louder voice on a bigger platform, so the idea of creating the documentary Embrace was born” Embrace had its world premiere at the 2016 Sydney Film Festival, where it made it into the festival directors’ top five picks and was nominated for the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Best Documentary.
The event starts at 6.30pm on Friday, March 31 at the Bellingen Memorial Hall, with the Bello BE YOUNG, BE PROUD group serving up sweet treats to fundraise, there will also be the crew from Rivers dance doing a short performance, and some time for an informal discussion after the movie if you have time and are interested.
The film is highly engaging, and we would love you to come along to this free event to start the community conversation around body image and self love.
Everyone welcome, mothers and daughters, as well as fathers, sons and boyfriends. Limited seats, be there on time.
