Police have charged two adults and two juveniles after a man was robbed, and three others were assaulted in Coffs Harbour.

About 11pm on Thursday 2 February 2017, a 58-year-old man, a Taiwanese National, was walking on Vernon Street, Coffs Harbour, when he was confronted by a male who robbed him of a set of truck keys. He was not injured.
About 12.10am (Friday 3 February 2017), two males, aged 41 and 42, were walking on the Pacific Highway, Coffs Harbour, when they were confronted by a group of males and assaulted.
The two victims ran to a nearby motel where they were staying however the group of males followed them. The 41-year-old man was allegedly tripped in the driveway of the hotel, and then punched and kicked while he was on the ground.
The 42-year-old man was also assaulted further, before both victims managed to escape into their motel room where a further man, aged 43, was also staying.
The four offenders then allegedly kicked open the door of the motel room and started throwing chairs at the three men who were inside, causing further injury. They then fled the scene.
As a result of the incident the 41-year-old man suffered a broken nose as well as scratches and grazes.
The 42-year-old man suffered scratches and grazes. The 43-year-old man was uninjured.
Detectives from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident.
As a result of inquiries, about 8.50am yesterday (Wednesday 15 February 2017), police executed three search warrants. One at a home on Oriana Street, Coffs Harbour, another on Maple Street, Coffs Harbour, and a further on Arthur Street, Coffs Harbour.
About 9.45am the same day, a fourth search warrant was executed at a home on Kurrajong Street, Coffs Harbour.
During the search warrant on Oriana Street no arrests were made but a number of items were seized for forensic analysis.
During the search warrant on Maple Street, Coffs Harbour, no arrests were made but a number of items were seized for forensic analysis.
During the search warrant on Arthur Street, a 17-year-old male was arrested. Police seized two cannabis plants, a bike believed to be stolen, and an amount of clothing.
During the search warrant on Kurrajong Street, Coffs Harbour, a 19-year-old man was arrested. A small amount of cannabis and some clothes were seized at the address.
About 4pm the same day, two males, aged 17 and 18, were arrested in Toormina.
All four males were taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
The 17-year-old arrested during the Arthur Street warrant was charged with affray; aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence in company; assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company; and cultivate prohibited plant – small quantity.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 13 March 2017.
The 19-year-old man arrested at the home on Kurrajong Street, Coffs Harbour, was charged with affray; aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence in company; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday 13 March 2017.
The 18-year-old male arrested in Toormina was charged with affray; aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence in company; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday 13 March 2017.
The 17-year-old arrested in Toormina was charged with steal from person; affray; aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence in company; assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company; possess prohibited drug; and enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Children’s Court today (Thursday 16 February 2017).
An investigation is ongoing to identify others involved in the incident.
