So here we go again, people wanting to pave paradise, but this time they’re taking the parking lot away too.

Church Street is the only natural shade street in the centre of Bellingen, people love to sit there and breakfast and chat.
City centres would kill for that sort of shade!
But again, the council wants to take out all the camphor laurels, and 10 parking spaces and put in flower beds.
How well they look after plants, just look at the planters in Hyde Street and the vegetable patch in front of the Council Chambers.
We all know camphor laurels are weeds, but it’s a bit late to stop their spread. If loggers hadn’t denuded the valley of cedars for English furniture they wouldn’t be a problem, but then Bellingen wouldn’t be a village people wanted to live in.
Let council clear the Bellinger banks of them, first.
But we need disabled parking.
Okay, put it in front of the taxi rank on Hyde, I can paint, I’ll help!
But if we don’t use the money on “gutting” Church St, we don’t get the money, was the explanation.
Same as last time, and we didn’t want the changes then either.
Why do people come to the country and want to turn it into vast expanses of concrete?
If we thought we were getting value for money with the rates as they are, we wouldn’t be really irritated by the grab for more.
It’s all promises, fat pockets at the top wanting more, complete disregard for what the people need, but have the people pay for it.
