Judi Earl and Lewis Kahn will present their well known and respected workshop series, AIMS Pasture and Grazing Management, from February 6-8 at Macksville Showground.
The course content includes consideration of factors influencing plant and pasture growth rates, the factors that influence the effective use of water on pastures, the effects of grazing management on soil health and condition, the impact of pasture quality and quantity on feed intake and productivity and matching pasture stage to stock requirements.
Participants will be able to develop a grazing management plan for their own farm and the workshop will also feature a paddock walk and discussion at a nearby farm.
“Good knowledge on pasture management and the impacts of grazing can assist farmers to match their pasture production to the feed requirements of their stock.
Geoff LeMessurier, Senior Lands Service Officer said poor grazing management can seriously impact pasture growth and recovery and will also have adverse impacts on soil condition and rainfall infiltration rates.
“We encourage graziers to attend this valuable training as Judi and Lewis have a great deal of useful experience and knowledge to pass on about improving pasture utilisation and management,” Geoff said.
The course is provided free of charge due to funding provided by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
There will be morning and afternoon teas provided as well as lunch.
