There were 65 students who graduated in 2016. Of these students the two top students were Janna Elliott and Andrew Trist with ATARs of 93.35 and 92.7, respectively.
When asked about their future plans and advice for this year’s HSC students by their year adviser, Frieda Gorman, Janna said: “I plan on pursuing Graphic Design at University within the next year or two, while keeping up on-the-job experience through my job here in Bellingen and completing formal Dance Teaching qualifications in the meantime.
To anyone doing the HSC this year, do what you can to stay motivated, put the effort in early and most of all stay relaxed and confident in what you can do”.
Andrew said, “I am hoping to study medicine. I am looking forward to University life, staying on campus and can't wait to enjoy college sport.
“A good ATAR is due to consistent work throughout the year (a little bit each afternoon) and preparing for assessments/tests weeks in advance.
“Tips for Year 12 would be to stay on top of your revision and study notes.”
Many other students exceeded their expectations with 12 Band 6 (90 per cent or higher) and 47 Band 5 (80-89 per cent) results.
Across the school 12 subjects had student results above the state mean and a further five near state mean. This group of students received 57 early entry offers to university with many students receiving more than one offer.
Congratulations to Madelin Perry and Janna Elliott for being nominated for ARTEXPRESS. An annual exhibition program featuring exemplary bodies of work from across NSW HSC Visual Arts Major works.
Brea Thomas, Jacob Thorn and John Gaite were also nominated for InTech Homebush, the annual exhibition of Outstanding Major Projects by HSC Industrial Technology students.
At the high school’s recent presentation assembly, Blake Cutler was announced as DUX for 2015 with an ATAR of 97.4.
He is currently studying a bachelor of Music and bachelor of Education (Honours at Monash University) and was on hand to accept acknowledgment for his achievement and to present awards to current students.
Congratulations to all of the Bellingen High School graduating students and their families for the fine young adults they have become and their achievements at school.
We all expect these young men and women will make a great contribution to their communities in the future.
