The second annual Will Cameron Cup event was held at C.ex Urunga on Tuesday, December 27.
In December last year, our mate Will was lost, and we wanted to do something to not only celebrate his life, but also get together to honour Will’s memory.
Will was adventurous, kind-hearted, considerate, thoughtful and so much more ... but what we all remember Will most for is his humour and wittiness.
He was the larrikin of the group and always made us laugh and smile.
Rather than a minute of silence before we tee off, instead, we had 10 seconds of laughter at the end of the day.
All those gathered think Will would have preferred this.
The Will Cameron Cup will be held annually every December and turnouts for the day are growing each year.
The day centres around mental illness, as Will suffered from depression and PTSD.
We need to get the message out to please always talk to your friends, family … and workmates, don’t just ask if your friend is ok? Make sure that they are!
This year we took up a collection post-game for donation to The Black Dog Institute, a not-for-profit organisation which leads the world in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder.
