The Grafton Toyota North Coast Cricket Council Academy is a cricket coaching program for elite junior cricketers boasting former players such as Adam Gilchrist, Joe Mennie and Tom Cooper from the North Coast Zone.
North Coast Cricket Council director of coaching, Terry Baldwin, said this partnership provides a great opportunity for local junior cricketers.
“For our academy to partner with the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy, it enables our players to be taught by some of the best coaches and cricketing minds in Australia,” Terry said.
“It creates new pathways for players aspiring to be professional cricketers, and gives our players the opportunity to play against touring national and international teams.
“In the past few years we have been working hard with a number of young cricketers to develop their skills, and now we are really starting to see them flourish.
“Just recently, we had four of our North Coast Cricket Council Academy players selected in the Under 13s Northern NSW Team (North Coast & Central North Zones) to contest the NSW State Challenge in Dubbo in January.”
The Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy sets the standard for cricketers wanting to train and play in an elite environment to develop their cricket.
It offers players an opportunity to train in a high performance structure, and be coached by elite coaches who instruct international and first class players.
The program is underpinned by key philosophies to learn, develop and improve players, in a program that has the style of play and approach using structures within the Australian men’s cricket team.
Cricket Australia head coach Darren Lehmann said: “I’m really excited about the DLCA partnering the North Coast Cricket Council.”
“The coaches at the DLCA I’m sure will be looking forward to working with your coaches and players.”
