The fishing was just as expected, and nothing short of amazing with over 80 per cent of the competitors scoring vital points added to their score cards over the two days.
The local waterways held a huge range of by-catch species caught and released, including bream, whiting, luderick, mulloway, trevally, mangrove jack, and even a small cobia to keep the anglers on their toes between bites from the target species dusky flathead.
Fishing aside, there were more than $10,000 worth of prizes in our competitor only random raffle, including, a boat motor and trailer supplied by North Coast Boating Centre Urunga, a Lowrance Fish Finder, an accommodation Package supplied by Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga, rod and reel combos supplied by Daiwa Australia, sunglasses by Spotters Eyewear, plus thousands of lures supplied by Berkley, Atomic, Z Man and Zerek.
Running an event like this takes a whole heap of help, so thanks to the people and companies for their continued support: Berkley Fishing Australia, Fishing Tackle Australia, Nola and Richard McCabe, the Urunga Anglers Club committee, Lions Club, Pat Connor and Spar Supermarket Urunga, Rob from Wardrobe World Coffs Harbour, Club Urunga members, Sam and his crew from North Coast Boating Centre Urunga, and the Ocean View Hotel.
