Around 650 head of mixed quality cattle were penned at the last regular Fat sale (October 27), with the majority of the yarding again comprising of restocker weaners and sucking calves. While prices for these grades were once again firm to dearer in places, heavier export cattle eased in line with statewide trends. Store cows sold well, highlighting the demand for store cattle of all classes by pasture rich but cattle poor producers across the eastern seaboard.

Around 250 lightweight weaner and vealer calves were penned and these met with strong competition,the best, a pen of Angus weaner steers, making a record 554.2c/kg. Similar weight Angus & Angus cross heifers made up to 460c/kg, with most sales between 380-446c/kg. Medium weight veal to processors sold to a top of 370.2c/kg to maintain a similar rate to last sale, while restockers’ weaner steers (200-280kg) made up to 418c/kg. Similar weight restocker heifers ranged between 360-390c/kg. A nice line of heavier yearlings and butcher calves saw the best of the steers (280-400kg) make 366.2c/kg, while the best of the heavier yearling heifers up to 330kg sold to 330c/kg. Bobby calves also sold well making up to 530.2c/kg.
