Well done to our council boys for cutting into sections that large log up against Richardsons bridge. Also congratulations to whoever within Council convinced some clown that the almost non weather event in early June, warranted a natural disaster declaration.

Money for jam.
Only just covered our three lowest bridges and didn't even dislodge our famous painted stones.
What a fabulous run of Spring weather, but having missed a wet season this year, less than half our annual rainfall to date, water table down and starting to get dry.
What a contrast with the rest of the country, and stock prices are at unprecedented levels. The good news rolls on, many including myself, feared that the reduced platypus sightings may have been linked to the turtle demise, but suddenly seeing quite a number at least up here.
But all good things come to an end, with the world's financial system on the verge, out here in this great land with near the highest per capita debt in the world, the main topic is gay marriage and a plebiscite.
My god.
Being a bit of a traditionalist I still believe in the family unit as the backbone of our society. Nothing beats family. As for gay, lesbian, transsexual or whatever it may be these days, I have no problem at all, if they wish to marry get on with it, who cares. I have several very close gay and lesbian friends and can't, and wouldn't want to differentiate between them or anyone else.
But the thing our cash starved leaders are missing here are the financial benefits. Just in the pension phase alone, forgetting all the rorts in the welfare system, two friends can live under the same roof as separate identities and draw $50,000 combined per annum, but if married $35,000.
A win, win, and over time could save billions.
If these idiots don't simply give the thumbs up, and actually encourage marriage for all, the publicity could leak out to all oldies on the married pension, encourage them to divorce, split all assets including their home, continue to live under the same roof and collect an extra $15,000 a year.
Never yet heard of Centrelink coming in with a sledgehammer to break down that bedroom door.
Finally a plug for Retaw Boyce who we often see busking in Bello’s main street. Everyone for his own, but for me tears to a glass eye, beautiful emotional music. Indeed a talented musician.
