And onlookers claim the winning margin was a staggering 40 metres!
Dundurrabin is 32km north west of Dorrigo and the school has just 22 pupils.
Last month Lucy Not, 12, Lachlan Gough, 10, his brother Nicholas 12 and Ronny Baff 10 overwhelmed opposition to win the regional finals at Coffs Harbour.
This took them to the State Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park and matched them against the best small school athletes in NSW.
And it was a walkover.
It’s not the first time Dundurrabin’s relay team has made the state titles; the school did the same thing in 2008.
The 2016 state champion team includes boys and girls and they are not all from year six.
The team has no coach and training is minimal, except for practicing baton exchanges.
In true Australian tradition, natural ability and enthusiasm is everything.
School principal, Leah Keough, said the team’s success was due in part to a local fundraising campaign which raised almost $2500, a generous response from a small rural community.
A parent travelling with the team said conditions in Sydney were hot and included a long series of semi final races.
"Our four young runners with no prior experience at this level were focussed all day and performed like elite athletes,” she said.
“The families of Lucy, Ronny, Nicholas and Lachlan wish to give special thanks to their Principal Leah Keough and staff members, Katrina Sangster, Deb Parkin and Melissa Harrison for all their support and encouragement.
“We wish to make particular mention to Rebecca Wykes and Leonie Wright for their hard work and fundraising and to Ritchie Donavan and Jessica Mackay for their coaching expertise on the day."
