Bellingen swimmer Leanne Da Costa won three gold medals and one bronze medal in the 55-59 age group at the NSW Masters Swimming Short Course Championships held recently in Woy Woy, representing Coffs Harbour.

She not only successfully defended her 200m backstroke title from last year, but also came away with gold in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle. Her bronze medal came in the 100m freestyle.
Leanne said she was thrilled with her results as she set three personal best times. The seven second improvement in her 200m freestyle was enough to win the gold medal by 0.8 seconds.
The road to victory is never easy and Leanne has certainly had her fair share of challenges this year, including a snake bite and battling hip and leg injuries.
She said she couldn’t praise the local health professionals enough as they all played a vital part in her achievements.
