Minister for Human Services Alan Tudge said the vehicle demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to provide access to government services for all Australians, no matter where they live.

During the past financial year the Government's current fleet visited 381 towns and helped over 8,900 people with Centrelink, Medicare and other critical services.

“Desert Rose will play an important role to ensure those who live in regional and rural communities have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with government staff,” Minister Tudge said.

“This Mobile Service Centre has been custom-built and designed for use on roads that our larger Mobile Service Centres could not travel on before, increasing the reach of our services to more communities.”

Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker said the Mobile Service Centre will offer Centrelink and Medicare payments and services, Child Support information and hearing health checks.

“We are pleased to be bringing the Mobile Service Centre to Bellingen and Dorrigo,” Minister Hartsuyker said.

“A staff member from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will also be available to assist individuals and small business taxpayers with advice and information about tax and superannuation.

 “Last time the Mobile Service Centre was here, staff had quite a few people happy to find out about myGov and online service channels and how to access their government business.

“This is a great opportunity for locals to access government services with assistance from experienced staff.”

“I encourage local residents to come along and visit the Mobile Service Centre while it is in your area.”

Desert Rose will be in Bellingen on Wednesday 19 October from 9.30am to 4pm opposite Bellingen Court House, Hyde Street.

Desert Rose will be in Dorrigo on Thursday 20 October from 9am to 2.30pm near the Post Office, Hickory Street.
