Aussie folkjazz band The Willie Wagtails will be bringing their signature ocker style of trueblue banjo jazz to 5 Church St Bellingen at 6.30pm on Friday, September 23, as part of a nationwide tour that will see them play everywhere from the southern reaches of Tasmania to the corners of West Australia, outback NSW and back again.

The Willie Wagtails are an acoustic powerhouse who play a unique blend of Aussie bush dance jazz.
Consisting of banjo, trumpet, upright bass, fiddle, mandolin and drums, the Willies play a mix of New Orleans jazz, bluegrass, and Aussie folk music, creating a loud swinging cacophony.
Combined with a penchant for the dinkydi vernacular and fondness of the great outdoors, The Willie Wagtails set out to remind us of our Aussie roots; the dreamtime, the early settlers, the Aussie battlers, and the late-night servo meat pie.
Though their styles are varied, their influences are close to home.
The Willie’s appetite was whetted by a handful of local predecessors; Melbourne bands such as The Hoodangers, Flap!, The Band Who Knew Too Much and folk revival legends The Bushwackers have all left their fingerprints in The Willie Wagtails’ music and songwriting.
