The Rusty Iron Rally is held every year on the Father’s Day weekend – which means this Saturday and Sunday.
Organisers say that thanks to social media they are expecting a bumper crowd, with exhibitors and enthusiasts coming from as far a field as Cairns, Port Pirie and far-western NSW.
One of the highlights will be a special collection of Howard machinery, including their well-known rotary hoes.
Committee member Elaine South said the beauty of the rally is that it is “history in action” with a very high profile.
“It really is the premier vintage heritage event in NSW with everything from restored steam engines, vintage tractors, cars, bikes and trucks, working machinery displays plus plenty of stalls for collectors as well as food and drinks,” Elaine said.
“One of our mottos is: If you are having problems getting your engine to run sweetly, then just ask the members, we have over 260 of them and they are most helpful.
“You’ll end up with a dozen fixes……some might even work!”
The official opening will be at noon on Saturday by the Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey followed by a fly-over of vintage planes by the Kempsey Aero Club (weather permitting)
Gates are open from 9am both days. Entry is $10 adults, $7 seniors and $20 family, children under 15 are free.
