Tell me about your business?
BusinessINFORM is an extension of accounting systems work I’ve been doing in Melbourne for 25 years. Offering my accounting and system skills to local businesses has allowed me to indulge in my passion and connect with businesses in Bellingen.
What do you like about your business?
Setting up and maintaining business systems that work. The gratitude and trust of the staff and owners.
What is the most important skill you have?
Empathy and attention to detail.
Most common mistake people make in bookkeeping?
Not being up to date with their records and resisting technology. Accounting has moved to the cloud. It’s scary how advanced it has become. What’s that thing you keep hitting?
It's a typewriter, and I ask the questions. Who are your clients?
Businesses in Bellingen, Coffs, Melbourne & Sydney … some in PNG too.
It’s now tax time, can you help?
I’m available to assist with preparation for yearend payroll, GST and income tax. I offer a free systems review for businesses to check if there’s opportunities to organize better and/or implement improvements.
What do your friends say about you?
I don’t know ... Maybe I need to listen more.
What do you like to avoid in life?
Planning my future. I’m a very in the moment person.
Although, I’m looking forward to the next Bellingen Toastmasters meeting where we explore “Procrastination”.
What are you reading right now?
Memory of Water by Emmi Itaranta.
If only ...
There’s no “if only” in my life. That’s not how I live…. Although it might be how I die.
The best lesson your parents taught you?
My mother taught me that “more flies are caught with honey than vinegar”. It means being kind to others is more helpful than being mean. It’s simple and it’s true.
If you were our next PM, what would you do?
I would employ you as my publicist ... and employ an advisor who was smarter than me… and you.
What made you come to Bellingen?
The opportunity to raise my family in paradise in a community of open friendly folk.
What project are you currently working on?
I’m looking for more free limes to make “INNER PICKLE”.
How do you relax?
I meditate four times a week with the Bellingen Zen Group.
Favourite shire eatery?
I’m lead by the mood more than the food. Any place I see a friend, that’s my favourite eatery.
The previous career you wish you could forget?
I will never forget being a hearse driver and grave digger for a vet who kept me busy in the pet cemetery. It made for a great Toastmasters speech.
Favourite country to visit and why?
Indonesia. It’s friendly, close and I speak some of the lingo.
Your best memory of childhood was …
Family holidays on a friends farm on lake Mallacoota. Kayaking, fishing, trial bike riding and shooting. (dare I say)
That explains the moosehead in the lounge room.
How would you like to be remembered?
Being a caring and inspiring lover, father, son and man.
Tell that to the moose.
What about the camps you support in Bello?
In 2003 I attended the Mankind Project, New Warrior Training Adventure. It’s been life changing for my personal growth and enabling me to live more fully. I’m very grateful to the volunteers and leaders and want to give back. I am blessed to be part of an amazing group of Men who work open heartedly to offer these programs in our community.
When is it on?
Our next Warrior weekend is August 19-21st in Gleniffer. Any man over 18 is welcome to participate. The fee is $650 for first time participants and $200 for staff (men returning). The money covers camp facilities and leader costs.

I also support the Journey to Manhood Camp (formally known as Pathways). Families with a 15 year old boy go on camp to share story’s and have lots of fun together. The journey to Manhood camp runs Sept 22nd to 25th
