Around 8.30am yesterday (Thursday, 28 July 2016) police stopped a Tasmanian registered vehicle in Earl Street, Coffs Harbour. Police became suspicious of the vehicle and the three occupants and further enquires were made. The driver, a 38yo man from St Clair (Victoria) and the 2 passengers, a 46yo man of no fixed addresses and a 33yo man, also from St Clair (Victoria) had limited identification.

Police commenced a search of the vehicle, and a face mask and gloves were allegedly located under the driver’s seat, with a large sword. A police drug detection dog arrived at the location and inspected the vehicle.
In the ongoing search of the vehicle, police allegedly a bum bag with a container disguised as a battery, where with a crystalline substance was located believed to be a form of crystal methylamphetamine (ice). Also in the bum bag was a Taser.
All persons were arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station for further enquires. At the Police station, the 33yo who was using crutches, police located hidden in the handle of one of the crutches a small amount of cannabis.
The 33yo man was charged with possession of a prohibited drug (cannabis) and was bailed to Coffs Harbour Local Court on the 22 August 2016.
The 46yo man was charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited drug (crystal methylamphetamine), custody of a knife (sword), possess prohibited weapon (Taser), goods in custody and receiving stolen property. He was refused bail by police and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Friday, 29 July 2016).
The 38yo man was issued a traffic infringement notice for a traffic matter and was released from police custody.
