Police and emergency services were called to Corindi Beach, about 36km north of Coffs Harbour after a body was sighted in the water just after 1.30pm Saturday.
The body was recovered by officers from Coffs Clarence Local Area Command.
The body has not been formally identified, but it is believed to be that of a 26-year-old man who went missing in the area earlier this week.
A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.
