Food was prepared throughout the day in the Trade Training Centre. Parents, carers and students were invited to hear about subject selection options including both streams of Hospitality – Kitchen Operations (back-of-house) and Food and Beverage (front-of-house).
In addition, Year 12 hospitality students and teacher Jesse Jeanes catered for the Rotary Dinner on Thursday, June 2 in Jenni’s Café adjoining the Trade Training Centre. The three-course alternate serve menu was prepared during the day and served at night with espresso coffees. The Bellingen Rotary Club donated more than $6000 to the school to support technology implementation.
Bellingen High School’s Trade Training Centre is the best kitchen facility in the region, an Industry Standard kitchen well-appointed with all of the equipment found in a commercial kitchen. Students who choose Hospitality as a senior elective, will qualify with a nationally recognised Certificate II, participate in 70 hours of work placement with local employers in the industry and have the option of sitting the HSC exam if they require an ATAR.
