Bellingen won the toss and chose to bat. John Clark (1) and Hunter Hain-Parry (4) opened the batting, but some excellent bowling from Macksville had John Clark departing early and Charlie Alkemade falling in the next over. The middle order were unable to build a big partnership and at drinks we were 4/31. A few quick wickets just after drinks had the Bellingen innings in tatters at 6/44 with only one wicket in hand. Kyan Upsall (16no) and Darcy Brown (5no) rescued the innings with an unbroken 32 run partnership with great defence and intelligent running between the wickets. Macksville chasing 77 for victory started off slow, but kept wickets in hand and at drinks they had compiled 42 without the loss of a wicket. Josh Perry (1/3) came on to bowl after the drinks break and got the first wicket for Bellingen. Darcy Brown (1/12) picked a wicket with a big off-cutter in the next over, and with the score at 2/66 Macksville were pressing hard for victory.
Charlie Alkemade picked up a run-out from keeper and two balls later Kyan Upsall (1/8) picked up a key wicket to leave Macksville with 10 runs to get with one wicket in hand. Six runs came from the next over then our player of the day Darcy Brown sealed victory for Bellingen with an excellent run out from mid-off with only one stump to aim at. Bellingen won by just three runs. Well done to the young cricketers for putting on such an exciting and close game of cricket.
Congratulations to Bellingen Golf Club and In the Rough Bistros player of the day Darcy Brown. Looking forward to the next game.
