On a sun-soaked Saturday morning at Bellingens Connell Park the Mighty U/7s Magpies played host to a Steely Sawtell Panthers. In what turned out to be a tight tussle to the final whistle the mighty magpies who are proving they are a force to be reckoned with eventually soaring above the panthers.
Again this week the little men with big hearts Tyler Travers, Beau Glyde and Nate Richards were solid as rocks in the middle with a number of solid hit-ups and tackles, Hullie Anderson made some outstanding tackles and runs clocking up plenty of metres while Deegan Young was on a seek and destroy mission tackling everything in sight and making some charging runs up-field, Zac Suter was at his zig-zagging best with some great offloads and stiff defence, Charlie Carter proved to be, to slick with his electrifying pace again bagging him a hat-trick of tries and Riley Humphries was harder to stop than a Rampaging Rhino! scoring his first try for the year Grinners are Winners. Well done to all on a superb Team performance undoubtably the best of the year. Keep it up fellas.
Under 8s
This week at home in Bellingen with a big crowd to cheer them on, the Under 8s again showed what great team players they are. Playing 2 games against Sawtell the boys pulled off some tough tackles and determined runs. Impressive was the tackling on display and the runs up field by Riley Morgan, Mekhi Parrey, Tex Casey, Callan Rose, Beau Bellew, Toby Johnson and Chad Taylor before an injury saw him out for the game. As full time sounded our Magpies were sent back out to play another full game against a second Panthers side in what looked like was going to be a one sided affair, after a quick huddle the boys managed to even it up and showed some fantastic skill and determination and their performance was just outstanding. A huge effort from these guys. Enjoy you break. See you in a couple of weeks.
