Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker said the Australian Government’s efforts to speed up the rollout were paying off for residents and businesses, as work begins to connect hundreds more premises to the NBN.
“I’m pleased to see these two areas will soon be receiving the high speed network they need to take advantage of all the opportunities afforded by the internet,” said Mr Hartsuyker.
“In Fernmount 296 premises will be able to access the NBN fixed wireless network upon completion of construction. The build is anticipated to be complete within 12 months, with connections then becoming available from phone companies and internet service providers.”
The NBN fixed wireless network utilises advanced 4G technology to deliver speeds of up to 25 megabits per second, making it possible to stream multiple high definition videos at the same time.
“With more and more people relying on the internet to conduct both their business and social lives, it’s more important than ever for everyone, wherever they choose to live, to have access to fast and reliable internet services. The Australian Government is working very hard to make this a reality.
“Across Australia we have seen the number of active connections on the NBN has more than doubled. The rollout is happening faster than ever since the Coalition took office.
“The Australian Government is ensuring that suburbs and towns with the worst broadband service will get priority under NBN Co’s new rollout strategy, which is a great outcome for regional areas,” said Mr Hartsuyker.
