Labor’s Fran Armitage
To the people of the Bellingen Shire I can only offer you, as your sitting Member, myself, and everything that entails.
My promise, if elected, is to ensure we are able to live and raise our families consistent with the expectations of the dynamic, innovative communities who call the shire their home.
That business will thrive and evolve to meet the needs of the community through the goods and services they have to offer.
I believe the policies of ALP are sympathetic to these needs: evident in the announcement of the most significant environmental initiative in decades, The Great Koala Park.
I believe this policy will, without reservation, drive the most comprehensive economic, social and environmental advances we have seen, without the desecration the cedar cutters left. I will stand against cable logging ever being introduced to the shire.
My commitment to the Bellingen Shire is to vigorously pursue the development and implementation of renewable energy projects, be it micro hydro schemes or solar arrays making redundant the need for fossil fuels, providing business and employment opportunities of the 21st century.
I unequivocally support the preservation of a strong public health and education systems, including TAFE. Ensuring everyone is able to take advantage of the opportunities of the future.
I will defend the living wage and penalty rates; preserve funding for services that protect the vulnerable - be it refuges or neighbourhood centres that help us help ourselves.
I represent sustainable change and affordable futures without the sale of poles and wires.
The Nationals' Melinda Pavey
I can offer the people of Oxley and the Bellingen Valley experience and considerate representation.
The Bellingen Valley, encompassing Dorrigo, Bellingen and Urunga, is one of the most beautiful places in Australia with untapped potential. I will ensure that as part of the Liberal/National Government we have a strong voice so the concerns of this electorate are heard at the highest level.
I am committed to working with the local the community to develop jobs and opportunities in the agricultural, forestry, manufacturing and tourism sector. It is those four industries, working together, growing and being prosperous, which will provide the best opportunities to employ and develop jobs for young people.
From the world heritage rainforest to the most productive agricultural land in Australia, I believe the opportunities are limitless in maximising the natural advantage of this region, especially with the dual carriageway cutting travel time between the main markets of Sydney and Brisbane.
As parliamentary secretary for Regional and Rural Health I am delighted the Government responded to supporting the Bellingen Hospital. However there is more to do in encouraging the record number of medical graduates to find their way to our community.
I am committed to the continued improvements to Waterfall Way, supporting iconic projects such as the Dorrigo Steam Railway Museum and Urunga’s Sea Lido tidal swimming pool.
If elected I will be a caring and compassionate local Member whose door will always be open to all constituents of the Oxley electorate.
The Greens’ Carol Vernon
The Nationals and Labor won’t legislate for transparency of donations to political parties. Only clean politics will deliver: fair planning; responsible mining and forestry practices; and strong approaches to moderating climate change for Bellingen Shire and all of NSW.
The Greens have costed plans (including a concerted move to renewable energy) for investment in regional infrastructure to create jobs and training research and development. I would work with our local community to access these funds for projects we identify as a priority for our shire, for example, the Sea Lido, a heated pool and addressing the backlog of capital works programs.
A vote for the Nationals is not a vote for ‘the same’ but a vote for our state assets to be sold to profit-seeking corporations. Expect to pay more as public-private partnerships operate toll roads, hospitals, and other services. Already private providers are making profits at the expense of our youth because of Liberal-National TAFE cuts.
We don’t need to destroy our environment for jobs. Our State Forests can be a fantastic profitable resource. Logging native vegetation in State Forests is costing us $495 per hectare. Cable logging and clear fell logging destroys our soils and rivers.
A vote for the Nationals is a vote for an increase in destructive mining practices, potentially a huge open cut gold mine near Dorrigo and antimony mining at Wild Cattle Creek.
The Greens work for the people who elect them not the corporations who fund the other parties.
CDP's John Klose
The role of the CDP can be seen from the way Fred Nile has used his balance of power in the Legislative Council, on a number of occasions, to propose amendments to improve outcomes, while on other occasions he has blocked legislation because it was unethical. Fred is a faithful ‘gatekeeper’.
My Role as a candidate in the Legislative Assembly is like that of John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus by advocating his integrity, faithfulness and service to come. So I commend Fred Nile to the voters of Oxley so that he can continue his outstanding ‘gatekeeper’ service to the people of NSW, saving us from unethical and unjustified changes to our Laws, - the probable outcome of a Labor Greens alliance in the upper house.
Why is the role of the CDP so vital to stability in NSW?
The CDP is built on rock solid standards, not like some other parties who build on the shifting sands of public opinion and shallow humanistic reasoning.
The CDP has respect for our Constitutional heritage.
1) The CDP will not vote for retrospective changes to Legislation, such as feed in tariffs offered by the previous Labor Govt. as an incentive to FastTrack solar electricity.
Fred blocked that Liberal legislation.
2) Neither did CDP vote for the Labor Party’s same sex adoption bill. But Fred was unsuccessful in blocking it because many Liberal members also voted for it!
As William Wilberforce, a Christian politician, persisted in his fight against slavery, so Fred Nile will persist in the struggle for the right of every child to a mother and father.
3) The CDP will never vote for any change in the definition of the Marriage Covenant which has a documented history going back 6000 years. Marriage is a Covenant with a pedigree of first use going back to when it was instituted by God in the Garden of Eden.
It is His ‘intellectual property’. The CDP will never be a party to the theft of intellectual property rights regardless of the opinions of irresponsible citizens.
Political Correctness?
The CDP defines political correctness by the values embedded in our Constitution. (Unfurl) [Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act July 9 1900]
The CDP alone stands for responsible Government based on respect for God’s will and ways. Responsible citizens have never had an easier choice as to who to vote for.
Only the CDP has a 100% record of faithfulness to our Judeo-Christian heritage, ensuring the true welfare of the people of this state.
Vote 1 Fred Nile in the Legislative Council, and John Klose 1 for Oxley.
