Council said work will start on Wednesday, January 28 for approximately six weeks duration. These works will involve the construction of a temporary timber bridge access, sheet piling works, the installation of new pipes and construction of a new headwall on the river side.
Council advised: “Traffic flow for the duration of the project will be managed via a give way sign and associated traffic control with the single lane timber bridge diverting traffic through the job site safely. This temporary timber bridge will not be load limited.
“Minor delays may be experienced at different stages of construction, and the site will be under manual traffic control during working hours on some days where required. Council thanks you in anticipation for your patience and offers apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
The culvert suffered considerable damage during the 2013 flood event and resulted in council narrowing the road carriageway to a single lane as a temporary measure.
The event was declared a natural disaster by the NSW Government enabling council to submit a claim for funding towards the repair of the identified damage.
Roads and Maritime Services approved funding of approximately $180,000 for repairs late last year.
