The truck was carrying 27 tonnes of fertilizer. The majority of truck and trailer was submerged in approximately 20 feet of water.
New South Wales hazardous materials (hazmat) officers, Bellingen Fire Brigade officers, NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) officers, Bellingen Shire Council staff, and the Rural Fire Services were in attendance.
It is possible a crane will be needed to salvage the vehicle and its load.
The EPA are testing the water frequently and at this stage it appears there has not been a leak.
More information from the EPA will be forthcoming.
