The evening was a huge success, hundreds of students and parents dressed up to walk the red carpet and be in with a chance of winning the best dressed prize, they looked glorious. It was, as always, hotly contested, the winners were - Stella Rees, Brett Weedon and Sonia and Bruce Stephen.
The films were of a remarkably high standard, with the ever popular Peoples’ Choice being taken out by ‘Grenade’ a music video made by Gemma Timms, Jordan Healey and Annalie Beardsley, it brought the house down.
The other winners were: Blaise Borrer, Best Minute Me, a new category in which the students capture the essence of themselves in 60 seconds, his light-hearted look at Aspergers was brilliant. Blaise also won the Best Documentary/Mockumentary with his fantastic, thought provoking “Hidden in Plane Site” an expose of the “real” events of 9/11 and took out the Young Filmmaker of the Year for his outstanding contributions.
The Best Music Video went to Willow Driver and Charlie Nelson for their technically brilliant version of the Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage.
The award for best Short film went to the talented and dedicated Roan Clarkson.
The evening took an interesting turn when one of our presenters, Maddie Cross, became very ill on stage. Lilly Kenny carried on with some assistance from myself and did a great job.
I would like to thank everyone that contributed to the success of the evening but especially to all the students who made films, presented prizes and to the brilliant Blake Cutler who produced the show.
