Murky, cold water was to greet Max Shaw, Fred Mitchell, Jonah Mitchell and Jedd Mitchell. The boys contested in the beach sprints, flags, swim, board and ironman events.
There was silence in the crowds when Bellingen High School was announced winner of the overall Boys Team point score. Officials could not believe that 4 boys from Bellingen could beat 19 boys from Byron Bay in their own backyard. Great competitiveness and sportsmanship was displayed by all 4 boys.
Jedd Mitchell took out the U/16 North Coast Surf Life Saving Champion.
