It’s sports afternoon at Urunga Primary School and an eager group of grade 5 and 6 students head for the Urunga Bowling Club for their weekly coaching session accompanied by Sports Organiser Helen Hoffmann and teacher Lesley Paxton.

Keen to teach them the techniques and etiquette of the game Club coach Jock Fisher assisted by Warwick Fawbert, Peter Dorsett and champion junior bowler Corey Wedlock, who was also a student at Urunga Primary and the role model for these kids, turn up each week and are greatly encouraged by the progress they are making.
Recently the club purchased an exciting game called Junior Jack Attack aimed at young bowlers and is a wonderful aid in controlling accuracy and speed on the green while at the same time introducing lots of fun into the sport. But watching these extremely talented youngsters put down some amazingly brilliant bowls one can be forgiven for thinking that here are future champions in the making.
